The idea of Menuspotlight.com was born as a school / personal project in 2009. While Tony Hsieh was on holiday in other US cities, he wanted to find local restaurants and was frustrated with the fact that he could not find restaurants based on the food he wanted to eat. He had to read through reviews after reviews and jump from one restaurant website to the other to find certain seafood or local dishes he was looking for. At the time Tony was pursuing a Master degree in business administration and decided to utilize the knowledge he learned to solve this problem. Since then he has assembled a team and have been working hard to improve the site’s online tools and the overall user experience.

The vision of Menuspotlight.com is to build the largest restaurant menu database in the world that lets people discover restaurants in ways they have never experienced before. Since the website attracts a hungry crowd, today MenuSpotlight.com is evolving to become a marketing platform for restaurants to advertise their services as well.
