What is Menu-Spotter?

Anyone can become a Menu-Spotter to post reviews about restaurants and restaurant menus. As a Menu-Spotter, you will also receive coupons, discounts and updates about your favorite restaurants.

Does MenuSpotlight remove reviews?

Yes but rarely. We are actively monitoring reviews posted by Menu-Spotter members and if a post does not follow our guideline it will be promptly removed. Following is a list of reasons we may remove your reviews.

Conflict of interest: Unbiased and objective reviews please.

Not your personal experience: Don’t tell other people’s story, tell yours.

Bad, nasty languages: Let’s be civil.

Personal attacks: We are all friends, let’s be a one big happy family.

Irrelevant reviews: We want to know about restaurants and food, not your cats.

Only your screen name will become public on your public profile page. To check your public profile, log in and click on the "Edit account" link on the left hand. Then select "view your profile".

How do I verify my Menu-Spotter or Restaurant member account?

When you have completed the registration process, an email with a special link is dispatched to the email address you used for registration. Please check you inbox and click the verification link or copy and paste it into your browser. Your account will be verified at this point. If it does not work, please let us know.

As a Restaurant Member you have the ability to take control of your restaurant profile. This will allow you to carry out various marketing activities to gain more customers to your restaurant. We work hard to bring a hungry crowd looking for restaurants and food to our site. MenuSpotlight.com is the perfect place to gain more customers to your restaurant.

Is it free sign up as a Restaurant Member?

It is FREE to sign up for a Restaurant Member account. A payment is required only if you decided to take control of your restaurant profile.

Is it free to control my restaurant profile?

You will need to purchase credits.
200 credits for $50 with 1 month expiration
600 credits for $100 with 3 months expiration
1800 credits for $200 with 6 months expiration

What are credits? How does it work?
-
It is similar to the “pay as you go” cell phone plan. The credits you purchased have an expiration date, which is the length you are allowed to control your restaurant profile. You can use the credits purchased to carry out various marketing activities. If you run out of credits or if the credits expire, you will need to purchase more credits to keep controlling your restaurant profile.

I still have credits in my account but they are expiring. What will happen to the credits that are expired?

All the expired credits will be erased and you will also lose control of your restaurant profile. We strongly recommend you purchase more credits to extend the expiration date.

I am running out of credits, will I lose control of my restaurant profile if I don’t have credits in my account?
-
Yes. You are required to maintain credits in your account in order to control a restaurant profile.

My credits run out (or expired). Can I take control of my restaurant profile again?

Yes, you can re-claim your restaurant by purchasing credits but the expired credits will not be restored.

How many restaurant profiles can one Restaurant Member control?

Each Restaurant member can control multiple restaurant profiles.

Can a single restaurant profile be controlled by multiple Restaurant Members?

Yes. This enables you to assign multiple employees to help you manage your restaurant profile(s).

How do I claim or add a restaurant profile?

You must sign up as a Restaurant Member first. To add a restaurant profile, log in and click on "Add Restaurant" link on the left hand. You can use the search tool to find your restaurant profile to claim control. If your restaurant is not present in our database, you can add your restaurant by clicking on “Add profile” tab.

How do I upload restaurant menu?

Send your menu to us and we will upload it for you. Log in to your account and click on your restaurant’s name under “My restaurant”. Select “Menu" -->”Request Menu Upload”. Choose from one of the three options presented to tell us how you will send the menu to us.

What kind of marketing activities will I be able to do with my restaurant profile?

We currently offer following marketing activities
Generate Daily Deal: You can post a special deal that will only last until the end of the day. This gives you a perfect control on which days you want the offer to be valid.
Generate Coupon: Let customers print them out straight from our website.
Generate announcement: Inform customers with news, events etc

How do I make a coupon?

Log in and click on your restaurant name under "My restaurant". Click on “Coupon” tab then click “Create” tab. Fill in information and click “Generate”. Our system will generate the coupon and present it on your restaurant profile ready to be printed by our site visitors.

How do I make an announcement?

Log in and click on your restaurant name under "My restaurant". Click on the “Announcement” tab then click “Create” tab. Fill in information and click “Create”. Our system will generate the announcement and present it on your restaurant profile for the world to see.

Why should I add tag(s) to my menu items?

Adding relevant tags increase chances of your menu items to be discovered by users. We have hundreds and thousands of menu items listed and even though our search tool does a pretty good job, tags can further help users further refine their searches.

How are "Featured" restaurants and menus chosen?
-
Presence of pictures and number of views are the key factors used to calculate the featured restaurants and menus. We encourage restaurant members to upload pictures to let people see what they offer.

Can I prevent other Restaurant Members from claiming control of my restaurant profile?

Yes, we provide an option for you to stop other Restaurant Members from claiming control of your restaurant profile. Log in to your account and deselect the “Allow other MenuSpotlight restaurant members to gain control of this restaurant profile. “box under your restaurant profile.

What is a Daily Deal?
-
Daily deal lets you offer a deal that will only lasts for 24 hours. Unlike general coupons which have expiration day that can last for weeks or months, Daily Deal tool lets you specify which day customers can use the deal. The tool also lets you schedule the deals so you can provide variety of Daily Deals days ahead.
